Do you guys ever purge your collection of a player if they get traded?

  1. The reason I'm asking is I'm a big Dan Uggla fan. I had a pretty awesome collection going of him...until he left and went to play for the Braves

So I sold all of my stuff...and right now I'm truly regretting it. There's no way I have the $$$ to get back all the cards I had of him, or if they're even available (I had 8 of the 25 cards of his 07 Finest Auto Refractors!).

    So yea.

Didnt I tell ya not to sell those? :glare:

Sometime I cry thinking about the PC cards I sold....... :crying:

Cool_Hand_FlashI might be crazy.. Proof: I'm the co-owner.

I could never ever do it.. I only swoop in and buy peoples Ultimate Collection cards at nice prices :P
  4. haha shuddup bro. you've got rid of so many cards since i've known you it isn't funny.
  5. yea im not sure why i did it. it sucks...but i guess i just gotta start collecting someone else!

Short answer; absolutely! Now, I would probably keep at least 1 auto of a player who was traded if they were someone I liked a lot, but once a player is no longer on my favorite teams I would rather move their cards for cards of guys who are.
  7. my feelings exactly, thing is on 3 of my favorite teams (Jets and Marlins), there isn't anyone i love right now. the Heat are a different story, but im kind of lost. Baseball is my favorite sport and while I'm excited about the Marlins season, I don't have a 'favorite' player worthy enough to throw cash down to start collecting.

That's why I spend most of my time looking for retired Cowboys. Even if there aren't any that I want to add to the ol' PC, I can always find a better card of one of the old guys to throw in.
  9. Yea I could collect Curtis Martin all day! And wrestling just because they have no teams.

There you go! Just do that until the Marlins pick up their next super star.

The Marlins have and always be fickle with their players. There's no loyalty in South Florida... Now that they have a new stadium... We'll see... And the Jets.... Collect old school players.... The current jets suck except for a hand full of players...

But get into vintage.... safer and better investment..... Plus, you already have a sick starter collection......
If I had the money.... Id be a vintage head...
  12. So if the current Jets suck...what are the current Dolphins?!?!?

i like vintage but the whole patches/auto thing is what i truly love.

might just start a collection of retired/deceased/hof game-used and autos.

Listen, I bleed orange/teal. When my players get traded I still keep their cards. :P

BTW, the whole retired gu chase is fun..... But maybe you should just keep doing what you've always done.... Bust cases and massive amounts of boxes and then just flip everything. :P
  14. looking for boxes to bust as we speak.

I've never subcribed to this "purge them because they left the team". I guess becuase part of my reason for collecting cards is to look back to seasons past and recall the spectacular plays of certain players or of the team's championship year(s). Now when a fave team moves to another city then I can understand not collecting the cards of this new alien team, but I'd still keep the old team cards and their memories. I think it is because I'm more of a vintage collector that I don't really grasp this other concept. Everybody has their own way of collecting.
