During the replay from the angles they showed, I never saw the ball bobble.

It came out when they hit the ground. That is my interpretation of it, but NBC kept cutting off the replays before they hit the ground, just focusing in on the feet.
I see it as if a player in the middle of the field was tied up with a db for the ball and when they both hit the ground it would be a no catch just like this one was, but the sideline was the factor the announcers wanted to look at.
