Opening Day 2015

So, Big Poppy has started the 2015 season 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts.
Miggy also went 0 for 4 but with no strikeouts.

Did anyone catch the Boston game? I'm curious on whether Ortiz kept to his claim that he would step out of the box every pitch, despite the fine.

I watched the end of the Tigers game... and the commentators went crazy when Tori Hunter stepped out the box with two outs in the ninth claiming he had dirt in his eyes.

Everything I see about Big Papi says he "stayed put" and did not step out of the box.

I really did not see any difference at all in the total length of games.
What I thought was more interested was the record number of players, over 100, that started the season on the DL.

I don't find the DL thing *that* interesting. It reflects two phenomena that are present in today's game:

1) More older players on more teams.
2) Less usage of PEDs for injury prevention/recovery (uptick in oblique and UCL related injuries).

As for Hunter, maybe that's why he was called out for "swinging" in that final AB.

I guess he finally spoke to the MLBPA and his agent about the rule, and someone pointed out to him that he can be suspended for blatant disregard of the rule.
