By the Team

AFC EAST

Buffalo Bills
12 -- Jim Kelly
Although not officially retired, #32 (O. J. Simpson), #34 (Thurman Thomas) and #78 (Bruce Smith) have not been reissued since Simpson, Thomas, and Smith, respectively, left the Bills. The #31 was "retired" to represent "the spirit of the franchise" but was "un-retired" without explanation in 1990. Fans have also petitioned for many years to retire the #61 worn by Bob Kalsu, the only active NFL player to die in action during the Vietnam War.

Miami Dolphins
12 -- Bob Griese
13 -- Dan Marino
39 -- Larry Csonka

New England Patriots
20 -- Gino Cappelletti

Although the #90 worn by Dennis Byrd has not been officially retired, it has not been reissued since he suffered his career-ending injury in 1992.
Although the #28 worn by Curtis Martin has not been officially retired, it has not been reissued since his retirement in 2007.
A growing number of Jet fans are urging the Jets to retire #80 in honor of wide receiver Wayne Chrebet. A fan favorite, Chrebet is second only to Don Maynard in career receptions.

AFC NORTH

Baltimore Ravens
NONE

Cincinnati Bengals
54 -- Bob Johnson
#1 is the only number that has never been issued to any Cincinnati Bengals player.
Although the #14 worn by Ken Anderson has not been officially retired, it has not been reissued since his retirement in 1986.

Giants might have to field less than 53 man roster if they retire any more. I wish all teams would adopt the no number retiring and just honor the players. Saints retiring Taylor and Atkins is a joke. If they aren't retired for the Packers and Bears they did way less for New Orleans. Would be like the Jets retiring Favre.

Great list though Bud! Nice work.
