Had a look at the boxscore. He faced 58 batters in that game, giving up 8 hits and 10 walks. Yaz hit a homer off of him in the 9th to send it to extra innings. Ryan was relieved in the 14th inning and Angels won it in 15. Luis Tiant went the distance in the loss, 14 1/3 innings.

And, Ryan came back on 3 days rest and pitched 6 shutout innings. Incredible how much the game has changed.

That is just incredible! You are right @AndyDrummond ,we will not ever see that again. The game has changed so much to the degree that there will likely not be many pitchers to ever break the 300 win mark either, few go further than 4 or maybe 5 innings anymore.

That is true, I mean, some pitchers don't throw 14 innings a month now!!
